The No Eating In The Car Mod

Post by Nicest of the Damned » Mon Jun 25, 2012 4:51 pm

This is a mod you may want to consider if you regularly eat in the car, especially if you eat while you are driving.

Eating in the car is messy, dangerous (if you're driving), and, think about it, the food most people who eat in the car eat there is not the healthiest. Eating while driving is distracted driving, and we all know by now that distracted driving is bad.

I got rear-ended a few weeks ago. The other driver got distracted when a bag of pretzels he had on the passenger seat spilled onto the floor. I slowed down because traffic in front of me was slowing down, but he didn't manage to slow down in time. There was $2800 in damage to my car. I had to go to the hospital for a few hours for fetal monitoring (I was 30 weeks pregnant at the time), though fortunately the baby and I are fine. I bet the guy who hit me really wishes he hadn't been eating those pretzels in the car, or he probably will when he sees his next car insurance bill.

Other people on the road with you (other drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians) will thank you for this mod. It might save you a ticket or even make your car insurance rates go down.

Excellent reminder - and gosh, that must have been scary. Glad to hear you and your baby are doing okay - you must be getting ready to deliver soon, right? Best wishes for a smooth birth and a healthy baby!

I'm 34 weeks now. I was a 36-week baby, so I know that she could come pretty soon.
