Just wondering whether anybody out there is doing their 14 minutes of shovelgloving while using a heart rate monitor?
As a Taiji guy, I like to shovelglove slow and steady, feeling each muscle, but I know there are some proponents of shovelgloving that take a more vigorous approach, e.g., enthusiastically whacking truck tires in order to really work up a sweat. I'm curious to hear how that kind of workout affects your heart rate (from resting to max, through the various zones, e.g., fat burning, endurance, performance, etc.).
I use a HRM for my cardio workouts, but haven't strapped it on yet for a shovelglove workout.

Hey Sixty, If you're still here I'd like to see your HR numbers for going slow and steady. Do you use a heavier sledge to compensate?
I go hard and fast and my heart rate doesn't really work through the zones. It hits my training range almost as soon as I start and stays there until I finish. How high it goes depends on the movement, but in general I'm at about 150 bpm the whole time. When I used a 10# sledge it stayed at about 135 bpm.

Here's my data - numbers are typical, not exact:
Planks 127
Kettlebell Swings 151
Goblet Squats 164
For each exercise it took about 30s. for my heart rate to get that high, then it stayed there.
Fireman 154

Spear Thrust 158
Chop Wood 151
Churn Butter 154
Flip Lever 142

It took about 10 swings to get up to 154, after that my HR changed almost immediately as I changed movements.

Looking through the archives, I saw that some people use a 6# hammer when they want a cardio workout and swing it faster. So I thought I'd try it.

I didn't get much of a cardio benefit from it. Probably because I already try to swing the heavier hammer as fast as I can.
