Old Wrist-weights + zip-ties + Hammer = UPGRADES! (pics)

Hey-o, gang!
I've thinking about buing a new hammer for a while now, since my trusting 10 pounder has been starting to feel a little light (keep in mind, I've been using this bad boy since I started shugging, and I honestly can't remember how long ago that was), but the problem is that I'm an exceptionally cheap/broke person.
So I improvised.
I strapped the weights onto the protrusive ends of the hammer head using their own velcro straps then I strung together three zip-ties to go around the the whole thing width-wise and finished off with two doubled-up zip ties to help keep that on from slipping. Once properly "gloved", none of this shows, of course, but I can certainly feel the difference!
I've got a pair of a adjust able ankle weights that go as high as 5# each, so when this rig starts to feel light I'll probably end up upgrading to those.
Oh, and yes - Tux helped.

Public service announcement: This may, in time, lead to a trail of coarse sand that will reveal to those who follow where you and your shovelglove have been.
Having learned the hard way, I heartily recommend that, if you persist in following my example, you do so with solid weights, and not sand-filled ones. I'll be making the necessary adjustments to mine soon, using the adjustable ankle weights mentioned above.

I used diving weights - they've got handy slots in them for the zip ties.phayze wrote:I heartily recommend that, if you persist in following my example, you do so with solid weights, and not sand-filled ones.
