"The celebration of snackification, healthy or not, obscures the fact that we are now sustaining ourselves in bitesize, individual moments instead of shared, bigger meals."

The impact of snacking on weight wasn't a feature of the article, but it definitely comes up in the comments.

It seems what we are "sustaining" with snackification is not vitality or joy, yet people cling to this freedom! I say the emphasis on looking at the severe minority who can be impulse-driven without paying a high price is also part of the problem, though they don't go into that. Fair enough.

I am fond of saying that I carry a perfectly adequate snack shop right on my body, spread over arms, waist, hips and thighs. I've got a long way to go before any danger of exhausting it!
Count plates, not calories. Three a day. 9 years & counting
Age 65
SBMI Jan/10-30.8
Jan/12-26.8
Mar/13-24.9 Stayed at +/- 8-lb. for three years Sept/17 22.8 (but more fluctuation)
Mar/18 22.2

There is no S better than Vanilla No S.

That made me laugh out loud! "I am my own vending machine."
