Cris's success with No-S!

Hi, everyone! I'm hoping that a daily check-in will get me going. I'm having a hard time managing even one green day right now . . .

I've done the No-S diet before, several years ago. Even though I didn't stick with it, I've continued to consider it the ideal diet and the way I would structure my eating after I quickly lost my excess weight. Well, my excess weight is still with me! I've had many losses and gains, and my eating habits are more out of control than ever. I really want to learn to eat in a sensible and sustainable way!

So I'm committing to making tomorrow a perfect No-S day. And I will report on it!

(Looking forward to getting to know all of you! :) )

Thank you, Merry! (And I'm a homeschooling mom, too!)

It's probably obvious that I did not have a green day since I didn't even keep my commitment to check back in . . .

I have been trying and failing every single day, struggling with the thought that I am completely incapable of putting a stop to my compulsive eating. Not fun.

But . . . Today is green!! I'm so thankful, and I feel very hopeful about carrying on. I have about twenty-five pounds to lose, and I'm finally ready to lose them the sensible way. (If I'd been sensible a few months earlier, then I would only have ten pounds to lose!)

I won't normally have time to write much, but I do want to check- in each night. And I'll try to use the Habit Cal, too.

Now I'm off to read some of the other check-ins. I'm sure I'll be inspired!

Congratulations on having a green day! I'm new to this way of eating but I've had some successful days so I know how good it feels!

btw...I homeschooled my two youngest sons; they will be 21 this month. I miss those days!

Today- SUCCESS!

Thank you, e-lyn! I look forward to hearing how No-S is working out for you.

It's always good to hear from homeschoolers who have crossed the finish line, although I don't feel ready for that! (My oldest is 16, and I'm already getting a bit sad to think of him graduating . . . )

Sunday- SUCCESS!

I realized last night that it probably seemed strange to report success on an S-day. But I haven't even figured out how I will do S-days yet. My husband works Saturdays and Sundays (and I am extremely busy on Sundays as our church pianist) so they don't end up feeling like a "weekend."

I think for now I will plan to declare S-days in advance when there is a special social event at any time during the week. What I'm really after is building the No-S habit of 3 meals and eliminating an extremely harmful 4th S in my life: secret eating. So I hope for even my S-day treats to be enjoyed with others.

Monday- SUCCESS!

I had a difficult time at supper because of a rough day (with marital conflict). I felt the familiar urge to numb/ comfort myself with overeating. But I fought it and won! :D

I'm in an extremely busy season (hopefully for just a month or two) that barely allows me to get on here to check in each night. I'd really like to have the time to read other people's check-in threads and explore other topics on the forum. But just seeing the list of threads above mine (reflecting all the people who have checked in since I last did) somehow encourages me. It's so nice to know that there are lots of others out there No-S-ing along with me!

Hi Chris, Yeah the boards have been busy lately, which encourages me too! It's great to check in when you can- don't feel pressure. It's a great place around here.
Sorry about the rough day with marital conflict- but that's super you didn't eat over it. A great habit to build, not to mix conflict or anxiety with overeating. That road leads nowhere good.
Hope to see you around here when and as you can check in!
