It can be done

Great article from Salon: I Thought I'd Always be Fat

His way may not be exactly right for all of us, but it can be done -- no matter how much you have to lose. More and more I'm noticing that the "experts" are saying weight loss comes down to two things:

1. Eat less.

2. Move more.

It's that simple. Yes, there are exceptions, but that's exactly what they are: exceptions.
"That which we persist in doing becomes easier for us to do. Not that the nature of the thing itself has changed but our power to do it is increased." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson

"You are what you eat -- so don't be Fast, Easy, Cheap or Fake."

Interesting read, just a few changes can make such a difference.

I do wonder how long it took him - it seems that towards the end he was much more restrictive and is a 'calorie counter' for maintenance. That's not quite as simple as 'eat less, move more'. I wonder if that's because he just couldn't lose any more weight without, or whether he wanted to see results faster.

Good read. Inspirational stories always give me more resolve.

My thoughts were the same milliem. It sounded like he did it right at first and then slipped into a diet mentality. Counting calories for the rest of his life is going to be very tedious. However, overall he is on the right track and it was a good read.
The journey is the reward.
Maintenance is progress.
