Interesting article: Should We Bother Believing the Experts?
I don't remember exactly when I stopped blindly believing the experts, especially when it came to diet, health and weight loss. I know it was after I started reading a lot about those subjects, and after I'd started reading about the various traditional diets around the world.
I know there came a point when some "expert" would say, "It's the (fill in the blank)," and I knew of a group, or several groups, who had been consuming the aforementioned food or food group for centuries or millennia and didn't have problems with weight or health. So, clearly it wasn't that food. Some will say, "we're all different" and we are. But I don't think we're all that much different. There are millions of people who live where not much of a specific food or food group is consumed. While they may feel best when they have some of that food, they don't feel bad, gain weight, or suffer poor health when they don't have that food. It's just that they feel a little better when they do have it.
