New to No S

Post by greengal » Mon Jun 20, 2016 3:37 am

Hello everyone,:)
I've been doing No S for about four days. It's interesting that something so simple can change so much. I already feel more in control of my eating. I have never been much of a snacker. But I definitely am a sweets eater, and I also get seconds.

The past few days I've stuck to No S and it's been pretty easy. The only issue for me is that I don't really eat breakfast. I just drink coffee. Do you think that's ok?

BTW, I'm a mother of five children ages 7 to 15. I'm 185lbs and 5'7".

welcome, greengal!
glad you find noS good!

as far as not having breakfasts: although im not a firm believer in breakfasts as a must (i eat it almost always very late because im never hungry in the morning)... and i know many healthy weight people who dont eat it either... but i do think that eating only 2 plates will make you hungry on noS diet...
so, if you can have 3 plates arranged differently throughout the day - i'd say go for it and i dont see why it would be a problem for a noS diet...
i'd just advise against 2 meals only...
hmm... or maaaybe, if they are very big... but that sounds painful to stuff in... :D

If you're not a snacker, then the two meals may not be a problem. I sometimes go without breakfast. Test it and see. If you become too hungry by lunch and want to eat everything in sight, then have some breakfast.

Welcome, and I hope you find success here.

Welcome! In my journey, I've read other sources (can't 'member them all now) that recommend routine meals and they've said for someone who doesn't work at tough physical labor, two meals is probably fine.

But you may also find that , when you aren't eating the sweets ((when would you have them, if you don't snack much?) nor refilling your plates, you may find yourself ready to eat earlier than before.

If I were retired, I think I'd have coffee and two meals, too. I often don't feel hungry before I leave for work, but don't have a break long enough to really savor any food I'd eat, which I'd miss, so I usually have a little sumpin'

Enjoy every bite!

Welcome, greengal! :) And I think not eating breakfast, if it is a natural part of your routine, is absolutely fine. I've found success with a modified form of NoS, so I'm a big believer in making it work for you. Fit the plan to your life, and you'll do great! :)

Although No S doesn't encourage it, I think you might need to check that you are getting enough calories, if you choose to go with two meals a day. It's a kind of 'false economy' to miss a meal. Otherwise, perhaps your three meals might be 11am, 3pm, 7pm? I guess you'll figure it out!

Do you actually never eat a morning meal, or is it that you eat later?

I tend to wait until 10, or sometimes 11, to have my first meal (and even then it's on the lighter side--a fruit & yogurt smoothie), and then might eat at 2 and 6 or even 3 and 7, depending on our family's schedule that day.

If you aren't hungry for 3 meals, I wouldn't see a problem. But if you are used to eating 2 meals and then lots of snacking all day, you may find that 3 meals with adjusting that first time a bit later actually helps.
