I hope that one day I am where you are now, maintaining but aware of what needs to be done to nip bad habits in the bud. My reading of the posts here has convinced me that maintenance often requires ongoing vigilance.

Somehow managed to get some distance from the unpleasant feelings, and distracted myself until dinner. Coming back from being away is usually a difficult time for me as far as not ove...

Repeat yourself as often as you like Oolala. Some of us need to read the same thing over and over to remind ourselves of things we thought we knew, but have forgotten. I think it is called reinforcement.

I find that a brisk walk outdoors for 3/4 hour or so is pretty good as a temporary mood lifter. Longer walks with friends in nature are even better. One of the reasons I belong to two walking groups.

Dear Petertohen - 1st, congratulations on 3 months of practising No S and maintaining your weight for 2 months. This gives you a base to build on. Second, how is your compliance on N days. How wild are your S days. Third - assuming your compliance is terrific on N days, and your S days are already m...

If you are more inspired to think that your overeating is a very strong habit reinforced by brain mechanisms that can be ignored or overridden (and some would say addictions are just that), use that. I felt a lot better about myself when I stopped labelling myself as an overeater (or whatever label...

Hi Automated Eating - as far as raising children goes, I am a non-starter. However, I can offer a couple of thoughts: Make meal times a pleasant experience, where good food lovingly prepared becomes associated with strong relationships between parents and children. Be open to listening to whatever c...

Weekly report: I had a tough couple of days battling food cravings this week. However I didn't succumb apart from eating excessive amounts of cheese with my meals. Given how much I was thinking about eating outside meal times, and going back for seconds, I count this as a success. Mon-Fri - success ...

Hi Savor - if you define success as sticking to 3 meals a day, or whatever permanent change you think is achievable for you, then you can be successful from day 1.

I think you might be right there. I still can't see myself having restrained moderate meals 21x per week, and I do enjoy(?) the feeling of really not wanting to eat any more. So having that outlet on weekends is good.

Yes, I decided that a weight range was more meaningful than a single point. It also gives a better idea of what is normal for me.
I weigh daily, but only record highs and lows for the month, as well as the start of the month.
