Weekly report: Mon, Tues: success Wed - split my dinner into 2 parts as didn't have time to eat it all before going out. Ate the 2nd 1/2 for supper. As there was no excess food eaten, am going to call the day a success. Thurs, Fri - success Sat, Sun - 3 meals I found myself unexpectedly eyeing off t...

Thanks so much to Simmstone & Oolala for their posts. My path to not binge eating has also taken many years. I started well before I ever met No S. I decided in the end that although I had the cravings and withdrawal, I would not define myself as a compulsive eater like I did when I was young. Inste...

Hi Tombo - well done for continuing to hang in there, even if things aren't going perfectly at the moment.

I came to really resent the hold certain foods had on me. I wanted to not want to eat those foods. Practising No S has given me the freedom that I desired.

Well, they say you can't out exercise a bad diet, and that's probably right. I've always put on weight when I can't exercise, at least in part because I miss out on the mood boosting effects.

Hi Larkspur - exercise and getting enough sleep will help both brain health and weight loss (I know many people say that exercise makes no difference to weight loss, but I disagree there). No snacking will help with weight loss, and probably therefore with brain health (reducing risk of diabetes and...

it certainly seems to me to lose 10 lbs. to be a lot more pleasant to eat an average deficit of 100 calories a day for a year than to plunge myself down by a deficit of 500 calories for 73 days and still have to eat way less than when I started for the rest of the year. As someone who has taken a y...

I feel like I don’t deserve to lose weight, as vanilla No S now seems so easy. Well done on getting to No S being easy. To me that's one of the differences between practising moderation and dieting - the lack of real suffering. I believe that it is not necessary to suffer to deserve having some t...

That's how I regard my current plateau. It means I am quite content to be patient, especially as my eating is still moderating. On reflection, this is perhaps more how I'd like to be - I know that waiting until my body and brain have reset at this current weight is the best option, but that doesn't...

Enjoy your course, and don't worry about the extra bits of food. If it dulls your appetite for dinner, you can eat a bit less then. You could count the days as NWS - planned non weekend S days.

I second what Oolala said. On N days I try (don't always succeed) to eat foods that don't make me want to eat more of them than a moderate amount.

Hi Merrygoround, enjoy your visit with your family. I also agree that you need not worry about that last 10 lbs. People often have trouble with food in family situations - they don't want to be rude, they want to show their appreciation of what has been made, family special foods are on offer. Some ...

Eventually I decided to have 3 meals a day on S days. That was after a year of eating whenever I felt like it on S days. I don't have a lot of treats. Sometimes I just give myself permission to eat more so that I don't feel like I am dieting.
