Re: Sammy's Daily Check In

There is a school of thought that carb addiction drives bingeing. We eat carbs we get a shot of insulin, blood sugar drops we crave carbs. Vicious circle ensues. It's fantastic that the boards are more active. I am currently weighing daily as it keeps me on track. I think daily is fine as long as you know if you get an upward fluctuation it won't derail you. I would say do what works for you but might be worth discussing your reasons with your dietician. Jx

Re: Melderin's check in

Hi I've lost track of days. I haven't had any alcohol, so really pleased with that. Stuck mostly to 2 meals a day and lo carb. I've had the odd snack as I have had some early meals due to going out early and knowing I would be too late back for my first meal otherwise. I am 2 pounds down on last Tue...

Re: Melderin's check in

Well done avoiding the biscuits πŸ™Œ I wasn't as moderate as I should have been but it was a lovely evening and I am staying off alcohol now for the rest of April! I started today with a cup of tea and milk so not a fasting day but will still stick to 2 meals. I don't think switching it about us a bad ...

Re: Melderin's check in

Well done on your success I used to drink coffee and tea with milk and two sugars. It's surprising how you can change your tastes. I also only eat 80% or more dark chocolate when previously I hated it. I have managed to stick with it so far! Today is looking promising too. I am trying to cut alcohol...

Re: Melderin's check in

I weaned myself on to black coffee but it has to be a good one for me to enjoy it. Can't do black tea though unless it is Turkish but not first thing. Cream would be better than milk. But the milk as you say if full fat will help. I only have full fat anything these days. What you need to do is avoi...

Re: Melderin's check in

If you need 3 occasionally that's ok, listen to your body.

It's the snacks that kill weight loss in my opinion.

I am aiming for 2 today and no calories before my first meal.

Good luck

Brilliant are you happy for us to check in on your thread?

I have managed my two meals today! I am going to aim for clean fasting between last and first meal too.

Re: Melderin's check in

If it helps I lost well on 2 meals a day and found it very sustainable. I have for various reasons been eating more and putting on weight recently but intend getting back to the 2 meals.

Do you want to hold each other to account?

Increasing numbers of Type 2 is worrying and I wonder how many unrecorded cases there are.

It's always difficult when you are presented with food in that situation but it's not going to make any difference long run if you don't let it derail you.

This has to work in life.

What you experienced on vacation was intuitive eating 8)

It's great and so much easier whilst away as you are generally more relaxed and can eat when you are hungry rather than been restricted by work and responsibilities.

Keep us updated on how you get on.

Did you weigh straight after the holiday? I find if I wait a week after normal eating it isn't so much of a gain.

Quite similar to my diet except I can include dairy, home made yoghurt and kefir bought cheeses. Oh and I do eat dark chocolate I am veering away from eating out more as the quality is not as good as home made and I worry about the oils used. It is obviously paying off for you in terms of health and...

So sorry to read you have been suffering mentally but great you have been able to tackle it. I have found what I eat impacts greatly on my mental health. When I eat non processed foods, low carb, higher protein and fat my mental state is calmer, happier, less anxious and much more positive. My weigh...

Thanks for your offer of support. I think you have learnt a lot over the years and it is kind of you to share your experiences. Bingeing hasn't been such a problem the last 2 or 3 years but is slightly raising it's head more in the form of mindless eating when I'm stressed. My noticing these things ...

Great to hear from you Oolala. I feel in a similar position to you in some ways. My weight has crept up and down a little and still above my lowest but only by about 4lbs. Well done on your loss, changing your diet slowly makes it much more sustainable. I stopped it eating low fat foods a long time ago and it didn't adversely affect my weight. Whole foods and eliminating seed oils is a great place to start whether you are following Nos or fasting. I'm pleased your bod...
