Are there any men here?
Hey guys,
I'm just wondering if men use these forums, besides Reinhard and of course me right now.
Let me know, I am interested in variations of Everyday Systems.

There are many "regulars". I think women just like to chat. Maybe they all just lost their weight and never came back. Bluebunny lost 90 and doesn't visit much. Look around on here, you'll find them. I suggest posting this under "general discussion" so it's seen better.
I guess this doesn't work unless you actually do it.

You're probably right, reneew, most of the men probably lost the weight and never come back.
I read a diet book once, called the Eden Diet and the author is a doctor. She said she would tell her male patients to eat whatever they want just eat less...and they would say..."oh, okay..." but when she told the females the same thing, they always had a million "buts....but what about this and what about that". She said the males would come back a few months later having lost the weight...but the females would come back having not lost weight....(well actually she said something along the line of them coming back with still having their "big buts" .
I thought that was interesting....it does seem like us women make it harder...we reason way too much.....and think about it a lot more than we should....we complicate it.
Sorry if this is off topic for this thread....I just thought it was interesting.

How funny.. more women reply than men to the question of men being out there..and the men give short, to the point answers, and we women prattle on! How typical! (I do agree that you should move this to the general discussion though) Ah yes..we prattle and give advice!!

I've seen this observation made by other experts in the diet industry, but I don't think it's a men versus women thing, at least, not directly. William James was a prescient writer on habits. One of the points he made is that you need to get a lot of momentum to start a habit properly. But many women have been chronic dieters since they were 13. Jumping from one failed diet to another makes it hard to get momentum going. So they tend to resist and only partially "buy in" to the diet.Gobble wrote:I read a diet book once, called the Eden Diet and the author is a doctor. By contrast, many men have often never dieted. So it is relatively easy for them to get habit-building momentum going.
