I remember miss writing the dates on checks in 1996. Time is starting to excellerate.

Today is a Success! day, if only because I have had a bit of the stomach virus and my inards are gurgling as I sit here.

I got my Super Slow workout in today, although at a bit of a lesser level of "intensity".

I am going to head out to the sauna now. It's 5 degrees out, that 40 feet seems like a long walk.

Breakfast: Sausage and eggs
Lunch: burger patty, green beans, pistachios
Dinner: Pork roast, salad, yams.

Happy New Year

Lunch: Roast beef sandwich and a handfull of chips
Dinner: Burger patty, beef flavored rice, tomato and cucumber

If I had any "questioonable behavior" I mixed a Pomegranate 7-up and a Diet 7-up and drank it with dinner.

Woke up at 5:30 AM, sauna-ed, had breakfast and slept again from 8:00- 10:00 AM.

S Day!

I'm not sure what to do on S Day after 7 straight N Days.

I have been to the store, bought Pomagranete 7 Up, salami and Pringles with dip. Also, Fritos with bean dip. A lot of football on today.

Got my Super Slow workout in this morning; I am still sore from the stair fall on Sunday. I limited my workout to:

Deadlfit
Dumbell Bench Press
Barbell Curl

Then a 40 minute sauna.

S Day!

Much better than yesterday's S Day. Didn't eat as much.

Have already had dinner, Beef Burgundy, French bread, salad, mashed potatoes. One plate seems to be what I can eat at one sitting. I made a lot, not one showed up for dinner, so I'll have a week's leftovers. Which is good.

May sauna tonight.

Good job this week! Way to stick to it!

Thanks for the encouraging words. Helps to see those now and then. :)

Sorry to hear you had a fall. Hope that you feel back to normal soon. I know how frustrating it can be when you want to work out and can't because of an injury. On the other hand, sometimes it's nice when you have a legitimate excuse not to.

Ok, I'm dying to know....what's your signature line mean :?: :?: :?:

Oh well, tomorrow is tomorrow. I'm thinking of jogging a mile tonight (on the treadmill) and hitting the sauna. Or ride the Airdyne.

S Day

Walked on the treadmill for 20 minutes in a pair of Sketcher Shape Ups. Comfortable shoes.

My goal is to be 10 lbs. lighter by the last week ofApril. Will be going to Palm Springs for Easter weekend. Hopefully the mini Ice Age has missed that part of the West. (In October our meteorologists said it would be a dry winter. Oops.)

I'm going to skip weightlifting for awhile and concentrate on walking and riding the Airdyne.

Train Wreck!

I have been experimenting with breakfast. Today I made another Slim-Fast shake with a banana and peanut butter with a shot of protein powder. By 9:30 AM I knew I was in trouble. At 10:00 a 9th grade kid walked into my room with a box of Twinkies. I was on those like a Tiger Shark feeding on a Sea Turtle.

I managed to "calm down" at dinner with a steak and salad on one plate.

I did get in a 1 1/3 mile jog with a 30 minute sauna.

Weighed this morning, and no weight gain.

Sunday was a lazy lay on the couch and watch football day.

Saturday was shoveling and blowing snow. As this afternoon will apparently be.

Went well today. Had dinner, a recipe out of "A MAn A Can A Plan", although I think "The Can Opener Gourmet" recipes taste much better.

Either a mile+ jog tonight or 35 minutes on the Airdyne. Haven't decided yet.

Edit: Rode the Airdyne this evening after dinner. Thirty Five minutes, a work level of 2.5 (10.3 Cooper Aerobic Points). I went back through my journal from the Spring. I am approching the times and levels that I reached at the end of May before I headed to the Caribbean.

This is good news, particularly after 3 months of high intensity weight training. Would have jogged tonight, but it was 10 degrees outside, and the shop where I have my treadmill is being used by a taxidermist. Jogging and old moose (odiferous) don't go hand in hand.

I think the only other wild animal experience that has been even more offensive to my senses was the afternoon someone gave me a handful of duck jerkey.

The last few days have been rough, I have started jogging and riding my Airdyne. I have increased my appetite fairly significantly, although, I haven't "gorged" per se. A Coke here, a packet of peanut butter cups there. And, I have lost a pound or two. This week it has been mostly on the Airdyne, but tonight I jogged on the treadmill barefoot for 20 miutes, 1.3+ miles. (I fly  )

Tomorrow is skiing, I have been taking those as S Days, but will not eat the extra food, but maybe drink a bottle of chocolate milk while "up there."

An S weekend.

I have been re-evaluating my exercise patterns, 3 months of weight lifting, three months of some sort of cardiovascular activity. I neve mix the two because I probably don't have the attention span.

Like some, I have been thinking of discarding the diet books I have collected over the years. I was reading a book on running (long distances) yesterday and decided I'd need a full time professor (like the author does) to keep on track.

I think the weather (winter) and lack of sunlight (SAD) induces me to eat more. I have noticed in the past I eat more in the winter months (Dec- April) than I do in the Spring and Summer...I always assumed that Holiday overeating is do to the...holidays. After having thought this through, I wonder now if there is more to it than just holiday parties?

I'm really curious- what are cooper aerobic points?? :)

Posted: Fri Mar 18, 2011 1:08 pm
by Over43
In the old days, when we were young, Dr. Kenneth Cooper wanted a system which would track a person's fitness level, and how much fitness "they" were getting a week. So he developed "Aerobic Points". Certain activities carry a certain number of points with them depending on the duration and intensity of the activity. So jogging at 5 miles an hour has fewer points than jogging at 6 miles an hour...etc. So, when I ride the Airdyne at a level 2.5 for 35 minutes I get 10.2 points, but if I ride at 3.0+ for 40 minutes I get 15.6 points.

I hope that is clear?

Batter up, I'm giving this another star. I haven't gained anyweight, and my body shape is changing after 3 months of riding the Airdyne, but I haven't lost weight either. So far today, one breakfast and one lunch and a glass of milk. We'll see how this works out. Also a 40 minute Airdyne ride at 3.0 level. My Cooper Aerobic Points are averaging over 40+ points per week, which is up from the 30+ I was averaging 3 months ago. It has taught me a very good lesson concerning patience and the need for gradual oncreases in fitness. I would like to average 50+ in another couple of months.

May is here, this year is smoking by so far.

Today was an S Day, a pretty typical one at that.

April, food wise wasn't so good, but I did get 144 miles in on the exercycle, so that makes me happy. Since the last week of January I think I have ridden close to 500+ miles.

Why thank you. So are you.

The last week has been "on and off", but Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday have been very successful.

I got a second opinion on my nose/throat and the second doctor suggested a C-Pap machine weight loss, and then surgery if needed. On the nose for sure. It won't happen until January at least since I am waiting for Aflac surgical to kick in.

Exercise is still going great.

Last year at this time I was sitting on a sandy white beach, comfortably numb.

I should get all green for the past week as I had a virus and lost my appetite.

It is back now though, bigger and better than ever.

I am in the process of switching from the Airdyne to jump rope for my conditioning workouts. There is nothing wrong with the Airdyne, but after 4 straight months, it is time for a change, and they are certainly two different exercises.

GK, you are welcome. I am kind of floating like an amoeba in the ocean of life. Not gaining, not losing, just riding the swells.

I am going to concentrate more on eating lo glycemic and being less liberal in thinking anything is OK for a No S meal. I have been eating low glycemic the last few days with some snacks (almonds, string cheese, (protein shakes).

I have also switched my exercises. I am going to jump rope no for awhile. When I switched from the Airdyne to skipping rope a week and half ago (or so) it was like a whole other universe as far as exercise is concerned. I am also going to throw in some heavy bag workouts as well. I don't have much refinement left when I work a heavy bag, but I can stilll club it real well.

I spent Memorial Day in Northern California. I noticed my parental unit  and I have the same eating habits. We're both like Great Whites cruising a seal colony, snapping at anything in the water.

I'm glad someone thinks I am funny. My wife has told me multiple times I am not funny. :D

Eating has not been a struggle since I am having no trouble finding food.

My exercise capacity is increasing. I think my 4 months on the Airdyne is paying off. Tonight I exercised 12 rounds, alternating jump rope, speed bag work, and the heavy bag. So four rounds each. The skipping rope is getting better, all told I got 1000+ skips this evening. Then finished with a 20 minute sauna.

Tomorrow is another day on the subject of food intake.
