Nettee’s daily check in

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Nettee’s daily check in

Post by nettee » Sat Jun 06, 2020 5:57 am

Here I am again - starting on a Saturday! I did have a try on Thursday but succumbed to temptation whilst cooking dinner so I am going to reread the book over the weekend. commit on here and go for it on Monday.

I have had success with No S before. Recently did well with slimming world but have had a difficult lock down so far and need to do something about it so here I am.

I plan to habitcal, post here and stick to the plan :D

Good luck. I highly recommend it as a long term plan. After 9 1/2 years of doing NoS, it has always gotten me through. The habits were instilled the first year and have helped me maintain a 45 pound loss. I get lazy. I have days and weeks of crazy eating (especially during the holidays). Yet the base is always there.
The journey is the reward.

success for yesterday. We did have an Indian takeaway last night but that was my meal so within the rules.

Now to navigate the S days without being an idiot.

Great job Nettee!

I find that hour or two before dinner to be one of the hardest! It's especially hard if you are the cook! Getting some endorphins from a run was a great idea.

Thank you guys. Failure today sadly. Supper was just that bit too late. I need to make sure it is early enough. Once I started I had a bit of an ‘oh well, done it now’ moment and ate a lot more than I should have. Never mind, mark it and move on.

Great attitude. It's no big deal - we are in this for the long haul and one day is but a blip! :-)

I do like eating early - VERY early indeed. Like 4pm early. Then if I'm hungry later (which usually I'm not), I'll have a cup of decaf w/cream while reading.

I see we are suffering from the same issue with hunger before dinner, its my hardest time.

Good luck this week, you’ve got this :) :)

The time before dinner is the hardest for me too. If I feel really hungry, like stomach growling, light-headed, I just eat a small snack and call it taking care of my body.

Auto that is early! do you eat with the rest of your family?
