10&11 May: Green. Back is better. I could vacuum yesterday! Today is my last treatment at the chiropractor. Today is also day 21, so I just have to get through today! Yay!

What really motivates me is Team Vanilla. I crawled carefully on the scales today and I've maintained my weight. That makes me happy as I was afraid that I'd gain because I couldn't move.

I really want to pull myself together and start shrinking again. renew posted in her check-in about needing new clothes when she reaches her half-way goal. Great idea! I'm tired of my old clothes and don't want to by or sew any in my current size.

I've been really busy the last few days. Thankfully I record my days in my pocket calendar! Here goes:

13,14 and 15 May: Green. My back is much better so I'm slowly starting to Urban Range and garden again.

16 May: S day. Too wet and cold to garden, so I'm taking a day of rest.

I read KCC's post about phases of No S. I realize that I'm stuck in phase 1 still. All 3 S's aren't habit to me yet. It's the goodies that are my downfall. I've got to figure out something other than goodies for instant gratification.

No seconds IS habit to me now. I don't even take seconds on an S day. It just feels unnatural.

I'm not whining-I've identified the problem and am working on a solution.

If anybody has any ideas, please feel free to post them. I need all the help I can get!

18 May: RED!!! Those blasted cookies!

renew, so am I!

19 May: Green. Day 1 for 21 day club.

After reading KCC's sticky, I realize that I'm still at phase 1. I read phase 1 every morning so that it will really sink in. I am now committing myself to the 21 day club, with vanilla No S. No tweeks, mods or anything. I'm more or less starting all over again. Thankfully, the no seconds S is as natural to me as breathing. I want to really work on the other two. SWEETS! JUNK! These constitute snacking also.

I need to follow my own advice and keep busy. My hunger for sweets is mental, not physical. Mostly boredom.

I'm going to work really hard on phase 1 also. I have the same issues as you SWEETS  JUNK  . I don't have too much trouble with seconds, but I do need to work on the choices I make.

I asked this question on KCCC's post, but since you mention the 21 day club here, I was wondering how you count it. Is it 21 days in a row of No-S or do you incorporate the S-Days?

Butterfly, S days are just that-S days. It's 21 days in a row, including S days. Fx: If you start on 1 May, after 21 May you will have completed 21 days.

20 May, day 2 for 21 day club: :D :D :D :D :D :D
Was tempted to snack in the evening, but resisted! I consoled myself that it's an S day soon. I will take my S days, no matter how busy I am. That will make my N days easier. I'll worry about my S days when I reach phase 2. I commit myself to 2 periods of 21 days IN A ROW, NO BREAKS before I move on to phase 2!

21 May: :D Looked forward to S day!
22 May: S day, wasn't an idiot! Was active, but forgot my pedometer.
23 May : S Day. Did have some sweets and a late night snack. Tomorrow, 24 May is a national holiday, but I declare it an N day for me. 3 S days in a rwo is too much for me! This is day 5 A for my 21 day attempt. A is attempt #1, B is attempt #2 for my progress towards phase 2. I think my problem is doing too much too soon. I am proud of myself that no seconds is really habit now. It is unnatural for me to take seconds even on an S day. I just have to work on sweets.

Congrats on the "no seconds" habit! And good luck on the "no sweets" front!

The good news is that it gets easier. Really, truly. That doesn't mean you'll do it perfectly from then on, but it does mean that it will feel so "normal" that any deviation will almost self-correct because it just "doesn't feel right."

(I find the podcast on "strictness" incredibly helpful when I'm trying to establish or re-establish habit.)

25 May,day 7A: :D DH bought me an ice creamcone last night from the supermarket. When he asked me if I didn't want my icecream, I told him that I was so full from dinner that I couldn't eat it. Hopefully he'll have forgotten it today...

27 May: :D It's getting hard. I want sweets so much that I can taste them. I'm really looking forward to the day when no sweets becomes ingrained habit. The day when I don't even think about if today is an S or N day. This is what I'm working on.

I still struggle with sweets. I have found some Licorice Spice teas (assuming you like the taste of licorice) that are sweet tasting and can sometimes be enough to satisfy my needs for something sweet, especially after dinner. The tea even tastes fine cold to me. My main problem is that I run out of it and forget to pick up more.

29&30 May: S

A new week starts today and I'm really working on N days becoming habit. I read an interesting article about how GOOD habits can take up to 66 days to form.

I've re-read testimonials and most of the serious weight reductions began when vanilla No S became as natural as breathing.

I will jump for joy and do a big happy dance when I reach that point. Should burn a few calories!

From 18 JUNE until today have been mostly Green, with 4 Reds thrown in. We're having a heat wave and I just can't keep away from ice cream. I eat icecream for dinner. Of course, I've forgotten my pocket calendar, so I can't be specific about the dates.

Yesterday, hubby asked of I've lost weight as my tummy is a bit flatter. I honestly don't know as I don't want to weigh myself right now. When it's hot I retain water no matter how much I drink. I do know that I've been averaging over 8500 steps on my pedometer every day.

Until today I've had a lot of REDS!!! I just can't leave ice cream alone!

I'M BACK! This summer hasn't been too good, so I'm more or less starting over.

1,2 Oct: Green. Not because I'm motivated or being a good girl. My paradentosis is acting up and my mouth hurts! It hurts to chew. So, I have to chew very slowly and carefully. I get full on a lot less. Anything with a high sugar content is agony to eat. Automatic control!

3 Oct: Green. I had no choice. My mouth hurts.

On the upside, I very carefully got on the scales this morning (after I caught it-it ran screaming away) and am 2 kilos lighter. I now weigh 91 kilos.

While my mouth hurts I'm considering eating 4 micro meals a day. I'm starting to feel a little weak and shaky, and my energy level is non-existant.

I'm a little depressed, because I've been NoS for almost a year and am still fighting the same 2 kilos. However, NoS is really a habit now. Even on an S day, I wouldn't dream of taking seconds.

5 Oct: Green

Today is an S day for me. The one mod I've made is to declare Wed. an S Day as I don't have the time or inclination to take an S day on week-ends. Then around Wed. I cave. So, for me Wed. is an S day while Sat. is N and Sun. is a maybe.

I read BlueBunny's last check in where he mentions a man who lost a lot of weight by excersizing hard for 3 mins every hour. That sounds like something I could handle, so I'm giving it a try.

It's been a LONG time! I've been a BAD girl! And, guess what-I've shrunk a kilo. I don't get it. I've gotten back on track since 1 dec. I really don't worry too much about it as I've got 3 parties to attend this month. I'm eating pretty much healthy foods the other days and not worrying too much about things.

1 Dec. Green
2 Dec. Green
3 Dec. Red Ate cake
4 Dec. Green
5 Dec. Yellow
6 Dec. Green
7 Dec. Green. Just brushed my teeth and used Listerine. No way am I going to eat now!

3 Jan: This is the year of no shilly-shallying!

This weekend was ok. Yesterday I was so busy that I forgot to eat until dinner. This makes me realize that my overeating is due to boredom. So, time to find something else to do.

In nov. 2010 I've been here a year and the only S that I stick to is no seconds! Time to get with the program! After a whole year I'm only 1 kilo lighter.

This year of no shilly-shallying:

Eat more healthy foods.

No sweets!

No snacks!

Control over my S days!

Move more!

I know that I can do it! I am doing it! This year I want to write a testimonial!

Irony of ironies, today is an S day and I just can't afford a goodie!

It doesn't help that I'm so tired all the time. I'm not ill, just extremely lazy. I can't even pull myself together to knit socks anymore. I think it's spring fever. This winter has been so long and dreary. The cold and snow is on it's way back, should start snowing again Friday. Ugh!

9 Feb: S Day! Can't fail today! I'm starting the day by rangeing to town. While I'm there; I might as well walk around and window shop. Maybe the walk will give me more energy!

I'm back with my tail between my legs...

This summer I've GAINED 4 kilos. I've been depressed and just wanted to throw in the towel. I've gotten over that and am now motivated again. I'm sticking with the spirit of NoS, but am really thinking about what I put on my plates. I've also found that around 3pm I'm like a wet rag. So, I take a piece of fruit. That picks me right up, but doesn't fill me so much up that I can't eat my dinner. Not exactly Vanilla NoS, but it works for me.

I've managed to shrink 2 of those gained kilos. I don't care if it's water or waste products, it's 2 kilos less that I have to drag around.

There's no need for a "tale between the legs" return here! This is a tough battle & you're back to fight it. I've gone back & forth with NoS so many times I can't count. THIS time, however, I'm here to stay...and I'm here to beat this. It's nice to have you here...and I wish you much success!

A piece of afternoon fruit is not a crime.

I have fruit almost every day at 11am. Its part of my day.

I agree with Who Me? I have "Floating Fruit"...I usually eat it with breakfast, but some days I keep it until afternoon, when I'm the most hungry. Sometimes I don't eat it...sometimes I do, but it helps me get through some difficult days.

14 Dec: Green, but it was hard. I was hungry all day long. I just kept thinking about my pond.

15 Dec. Green. Kept busy all day to keep my mind off food. Anything to burn a calorie!

16 Dec. Pink. Although I followed the spirit of NoS at dinner, I ate too much. I piled my plate way too high and felt stuffed when I was done. So, I'm calling it a fail.

17 Dec. Fail. Although an S day, I didn't eat anything until 1600. Didn't overeat, but this is not good.

18 Dec. A good day. Didn't overeat or go wild on S day. My coat is feeling looser around the hips and tummy.

19 Dec. Green foodwise, but didn't move that much. I have a cold that I just can't get rid of.

20 Dec. Green.

I haven't had time to post what with holiday business. From 20-22 Dec. Green. From 23 Dec until 26 Dec. pink. I didn't overindulge in sweets until yesterday, which is a holiday in Denmark. Both 24&25 Dec. I felt stuffed even though I didn't eat all that much. I guess it was staring at all that food all day long while I was preparing it.

Yesterday was a green. I didn't move that much as I was still exhausted after Xmas. Hopefully, today will be better.

Yesterday I moved a bit. Ate Green.

I'¨m really battling the sins of gluttony and sloth. Which leads to other dadly sins such as anger and envy. All in all, I don't feel very good about myself.
There's only one way to start feeling good again-moderation in all things. Including my inherent laziness!

I totally relate!! I can't think myself better I have to take action!!!! Sounds like you already know that. Have a happy new year!

May I ask if being hard on yourself is working? Unless you are talking about sloth and gluttony with a twinkle in your eye.

You are absolutely right about moderation, including self-approbation!

When I'm feeling crappy, I ask myself if I've eaten too much crap or not. Never believe self-criticism if I've been eating a lot of mind-altering chemicals, i.e, sugar and refined foods.

I've put something on my own check-in because reading your post spurred my thoughts and I didn't want to hi-jack.

This is doable and WORTH THE DIFFICULT TIMES OF WAITING TO EAT!

I'm not being too hard on myself. If I practiced moderation (temperence), I wouldn't be obese. Gluttony (overeating) and sloth (laziness) is what got me where I am today. I'm only being honest with myself. Sometimes honesty isn't too pretty, but what do I get out of deluding myself? However, now that I know my problem, I can do something about it.

Today, I got on the scale and got a pleasant surprise. I've maintained throughout the holidays. I haven't gained a gram! Being a holiday, today is an S for me,but I'm not going to "gobble like a turkey and eat like a hog".

There is hope!

I'm on your side. If looking at it your way spurs you to action, I applaud you! Sorry if I seemed unsupportive. I know people get their motivations in lots of ways.

Hope you're having a great moderate New Year's Day!

Thanks, oolala! I've tried the reward system as in if I shrink x number of kilos buy myself a non food thingy. Didn't work. Now, my girlie pond and patio are on the line. My reward will be a state of the art filter for said pond. After 1 year maintaining, my reward will be new, feminine patio furniture. Each year of maintaining, I'll give myself a BIG reward. First time I gain more than 5 kilos, the pond goes.

1 Jan. Thankfully, I've maintained over the holidays. Now on to further shrinkage! A good, green S day. Didn't over indulge in anything.

2 Jan: Will start packing away Xmas stuff. Need to vacuum as my cat is shedding. Nice long walk with doggie and then range home the groceries. Will post this evening with results.

Today has been GREEN. I accomplished my goals today and even did 5 jumping jacks this morning.

All kinds of lean meats and poultry costs a fortune here in Dk, so I'm not getting enough protein. Maybe that's why I was constantly hungry? That's why my hair is fried and my nails are breaking? Anyway, for lunch I had a small bowl of oatmeal with some raisins. I also had a protein shake. I felt very full and this kept me going until dinner, 6 1/2 hours later. I wasn't that hungry at dinner so I ate mostly veggies and bulgur.

Perhaps you want to consider adding some nuts, beans, lentils for protein? Those are generally all much cheaper and definitely add good protein to your diet as well.

I don't find that plant sources of proteins have the same effect at all as animal flesh. Sorry they are so expensive, but they are probably better quality and easier on the environment than our industrial meats here in America. Wish I could say I don't buy them, but I do. I do eat carbs every day, too, but I find that my desire for sweets and snacks goes way up if I go several days without meat. I don't know how the vegans and raw fooders do it, though my hat is off to them! Some of my worst desires to binge came after a raw food dinner I went to a few months ago. But meat is hard on the environment, so I've been cautiously experimenting with less. It's worked out so far. Hope you can find the balance you need soon.

Thanks for the input. I bought my protein shake on sale and after siome math found that this shake is much cheaper than meat. I do eat meat, just not that much. I also eat nuts for their health value. One portion of protein shake has 40 grams of raw protein. Thats the same as eating a steak. I use my shakes as a supplement not as a substitute. Here in Dk it is recommended to eat 1.5 grams of protein per kilo body weight. If you want to shrink, 2 grams per kilo body weight. Weighing 96 kilos, no way can I eat that much protein! Most meats contain between 18-22 grams of protein per 100 grams of meat.

It's been a few days since my last check in. I've been green with the exception of yesterday. Candy after dinner. Yesterday I did however move a lot. I was exhausted.

A shake with 40 grams of protein in one shot is a real find! That should go a long way towards feeling more sated.
