Scrolling on a tablet

I use a tablet which obviously has no mouse. In order to see the most recent post I have to get to the bottom of sometimes a very long page. In order to see posts from lots of people I have to do this several times and it is time consuming. I could ask them to be displayed newest first but that box is on the bottom of the pages...and it only changes it for the post I am in. Am I missing something? Or is there a quicker way?
