Hi koopa,

I love it! Can I steal it? I've been looking for a sensible plan for walking for a while now but because I walk everywhere and do half a mile here and a mile there I was finding it difficult. 15 miles a week is ideal.

I think maybe I shall do 15 miles per Mon-Fri with any done at the weekend as a bonus.

Thanks for the idea. I'm off to set up a new habit-cal!

Steal away. My goal is to hit it during the week, and use the weekend if I slack. The plan is to go running monday/tuesday/thursday/friday which a total session for me averages 3.5 to 4 miles. If I push myself, I hit this just with the treadmill. The wife is looking to get moving to lose some baby weight, so I've been forcing her to go on a 1.6 mile loop on our street. The last thing I want to do is walk after running for 2 miles, but meh, it helps with the mileage :)

Thanks!

I'm currently rehabilitating my knees after wrecking them running a half marathon in bad shoes and I've been trying to find a sensible way to quantify my walking as I can't start any running plans until the end of September.

This is perfect, thanks again and good luck with it!

Half marathon is impressive. I hope you finished to "reap the rewards" of blowing out your knees! I really have no inspiration to run a race, ATM, the best I can do is a very slow 5k on a treadmill. Things like hills annoy me :)

Right now, my run pace is 12/13 minute mile, but I am doing 2 minutes of sprinting at 10 minutes per mile pace. Since I am doing this mostly as a get into shape method, speed doesn't bother me much, or the fact that I can only run on a treadmill and suck wind outside.

The benefits, I had to push my brother-in-law's (he weighs 130 and is 6'2, some people get all the luck!) car and he was severely winded, but I could have pushed it farther. Its amazing the little things you can do when you are in a bit more shape.

Now, back to losing these few pounds to see a new number!

Thanks!

I did indeed finish it, and in 2 hours 15 minutes, which I was surprised by given that 6 months before I had been an unfit ex smoker who couldn't run a mile.

However with retrospect I think that starting out slow is a very good thing, that and whatever you do get your feet checked by experts and wear the shoes which they recommend! It's how I plan to start again come September.

It is amazing what running can do for you, physically and psychologically too.

Friday: 0

Does mowing the lawn with a power push mower count as walking? Probably not. Did the mower thing for an hour. Rain began and ruined the walking plans.

Also did the wii fit running with the wife for 2 minutes. Does that count as well? Nope, didn't think so!

Week 2 goals:

Seems 15 miles was very achievable. Lets try something a bit different.

Easy Goal: 15 miles
Medium Goal: 20 miles
Hard Goal: 25 miles

Also, I am getting a bike today, the plan is to bike to the gym and bike back.

Bike goals: 5 miles
*Note: I am not sure how far it is to bike to the gym. This may be VERY achievable. Good to start slow

Current weight: 243
Goal of this week: 239. I reached 239 on friday last week, but my parents threw me a surprise birthday party. Needless to say, some shenanigans occurred. The most awkward conversation was one of my friends I haven't seen in over a year asked me where my first daughter was...

I felt bad for her that she didn't know that she had passed away....

Week 3 Goals

Lets stick with week 2 goal numbers.

Easy Goal: 15 miles
Medium Goal: 20 miles
Hard Goal: 25 miles

Bike goals: 5 miles

Current weight: 240 (weekends are killing me :))

So, while I did hit the hard goal, it was indeed, hard. I had to really ramp up the numbers a few days because I knew I would not be able to get to the gym other days. Not to mention, the 2 hour track walk... brutal :)
