45 pounds down!

I just had to share some happy news. Because, let's face it, in this weight loss game, we need all the kudos we can get! I have been writing here for about 5 years. Well, this morning, I was looking back at some of my earlier posts, from Feb. 2008. And I have discovered that I have lost 45 pounds! Yes, 5 years ago I was 45 pounds heavier. It has been so gradual that I haven't even realized. And because I have a ways to go to reach goal, I thought I was generally failing. And these have not been easy years. I went through a divorce, major work stress, and by no means have no s'd properly. In fact, I think I have had more failure days than success days. But I do know that in 5 years, I have found more peace, less emotional eating, more walking the dog, and more normal eating. Which has obviously added up, or down I should say =). So here are my current stats: Female, 35, five foot five. Start weight 265. Current weight 217-220. Goal for me around 175-180. I walk the dog 2-3 times a week for 2-3 miles or less. desk job. And am by no means a model noeser or model eater. But I feel motivated to keep going.

Fantastic - Congratulations! I think that's testimonial page worthy.

I think it's interesting that you felt like you failed but really the weight came off.

This is definitely noteworthy, especially since the stats are that people either maintain or gain in the same amount of time. You're down a very respectable 17%! Research shows you are probably getting the biggest health bang for your buck just with your better eating and moderate exercise It's great to know that being happier eating doesn't necessarily mean getting heavier. Likely the opposite. Definitely keep going!

Congratulations. I think it shows that you don't have to have strings of green days in order to see results -- even if they are very gradual.

Wow!

Amazing job! You have lost more than the recommended 10% of your body weight. Twice!

I am more convinced than ever that No S is the way to go.

Congratulations! That is wonderful news. And I'm so impressed that you stuck with it through all your difficulties. Sure there were some fallings-off, but you came back again and again despite these. To my mind that's even more impressive than if you'd never run into difficulties, and a surer sign that you will surmount whatever comes next. Thank you for sharing your story and wishing you easier times and even more success going forward.

Wow, milczar, that is amazing. I've been reading a few of the forum archives, so I've read your posts from several years ago. It is fantastic to hear you have stuck with it, and I'm thrilled you've been so successful. Congratulations!

That is fabulous! You stuck with it and built this habit with resolve. I wrote four years ago, "I am in a trap that few escape." You are escaping. Thank you for being a model. It does not take perfection. It takes persistence!

It is a life long struggle, no matter what. You simply have to be conscious of the way you eat for the rest of your life. That's not to say you don't have cheat days or S days. I still have a ways to go, but I am happy that I am on my way. I think what always made me fail before was the desire for speed. The faster it comes off the easier it is to put back on. Onward and upward

That's a loss of about 22%. You ARE doing this.

It may be lifelong, but I'm not sure it's always a struggle. It's just...different. Rationally aware rather than rabidly vigilant. And a lot more delight.

I have been all over the place. overall, I am eating less. I wish I could say I am a vanilla model noser, but the truth is that I am not. I think my success comes from the fact that I had a lot to lose to begin with. but it has all slowed down. And lately I have just been maintaining. I am about 58 pounds down. But I can't seem to get any lower. I am super frustrated right now. I know i have come a long way, but I still have a long way to go. I need to break out of this maintaining pattern.
