Red Day

Post by kittymom » Tue May 03, 2011 6:10 pm

Yesterday was a red day for me. I was pretty disappointed with myself because Sunday was day 21 of yellow and green days and then Monday I snacked.
I did really well all day and then about 10pm my stomach was so ravenously growling I couldn't settle down to go to sleep. So I ate a bowl of Cheerios. My stomach settled but my mind stayed active.
At first light this morning my inclination was to give up on No S like I have so many other diets. But then I remembered I had just finished 21 days and that my next goal is for 30 days. I guess if I have one red day on a calendar of 30 days, I'm not doing so bad. eh?

No, you are not.

Think how much better you're doing compared to your pre-No-S habits. Before you started No S, every N day was probably a red day, or at least most of them would have been. You've gone from 20-some red days in a month to one.

While browsing through older posts, I noticed that a lot of people reported a red day at day 20 or 21. You made it past this hurdle - good for you. Now just get back on the horse and have a good go at the next 21 days

Failures happen to everyone.

What distinguishes the long-term habit changers from people who don't make it is that you develop the ability to mark it and move on immediately.

So true, Noel. If you get back into the groove, then one failure is just a small ratio of your total compliant days.

Kittymom, if you haven't already, go read the sticky topic on the stages of No S. Three weeks of compliance is just the hook. Statistically, it takes a lot longer for it to become a habit.

I just had a red right now, but it doesn't mean I'm giving up No S or anything. Like Nicest said, most (if not all) of my pre-No S days would have been red. I had three reds in April, and perhaps I can get it down to two in May. 8)

Gosh if I think about how I used to eat I'm pretty sure I had at LEAST one of the three 'S's' every single day. I might not be losing weight fast (probably due to my not particularly brilliant meal choices ) but my general food intake is SO much better than it used to be!

Don't be disheartened by one red day, as you say one out of 30 is brilliant!
