Despite being a woman, I really enjoyed this article in men's health: http://www.mensjournal.com/everything-y ... s-is-a-lie
I take weight-lifting classes at the gym, but they focus on reps and variety... Have never tried the kind of weight-lifting the author talks about. I'm thinking I might pick up a copy of the book he recommends at the end.

Interesting article, but I think that his comment about a 40 lb squat had to be hyperbole. I'm not presently weight training, but I'm positive my max is still higher than 80 and I'm a woman.

It's interesting enough as an article, but it does seem to take six pages to reach the conclusion that you get good at stuff by doing stuff whilst paying attention.
There's as much meaningless gumpf about exercise around as there is about diet. Simplicity and effectiveness often go hand-in-hand, No-S being a case in point.

As a follow up, I hit the weight room yesterday. I was squatting 70 lbs after a several month hiatus. I find it difficult to believe that a healthy man couldn't outlift me. I'm a short woman.
