Following Mindless Eating suggestions, I decided to use baby carrots as scoopers with my third-meal baba ganoug tonight, instead of the usual rice crackers. To my astonishment, it was BETTER, much better. When I ran out of carrots (I wasn't too excited about eating vegetables, so had bought only a small handful), I switched to fresh tomato, which was also good.
In this one step, I avoided hundreds of calories (you can get a lot of those little crackers on a plate!), had a couple of healthy vegetable servings, AND enjoyed my food more.
I am thrilled!

I've done this with strips of green peppers to scoop up salsa at Mexican restaurants. Much better than fried corn chips!

It's a Middle-Eastern spread made with roasted eggplant and olive oil, the same kind of thing as hummus, that is usually eaten with pita bread. Also spelled baba ganouj or baba ganoush.

Thanks for the information. It sounds good. I love eggplant and try to get some olive oil into my diet when I can.
