Okay, part 2 - committees. Another metaphor was that we like to think of ourselves as ONE self, but it may be more accurate to think of ourselves as a committee - and one which sometimes works at cross-purposes. This notion followed some fascinating discussion of split-brain studies, in which it was...

Thanks, Mimi and IDK - it's nice to see you too! :) Saturday ended well - my evening meal was larger than it might have been at home, but one plate. I had truffles fir dessert when I got home. Very pleasant time with friends! Sunday started off well, but devolved into a bit of snacking and eating sw...

Success strategies
I'm re-booting me No-S habits, and remembering some of the things that work for me, and thought that a list of "things that work" would make a fun thread. One thing I've learned is that I do better when I feel as if I'm nurturing myself rather than beating myself up. So, I have started looking for s...

Oops, this was meant to be the start of my new daily thread for 2012 not a testimonial. (I wondered where my post had gone when I went to the Daily Threads!). But I'll leave it as a testimonial. There are bumps in any road that you take for a lifetime, and I'm at one with regard to long-term weight ...

KCCC 2012
Time for a new year (somewhat belatedly). Last year's post, with links to older ones, can be found at http://everydaysystems.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=7064&start=0 This is not the start to the year I wanted. I have gained a bit since I retired (now working half-time) - major life changes seem to throw ...

That is a great quote. It sparks a memory, only tangentially related. One of the Zencasts I listened to talked about how we think of "stages of development" with regard to children, but conceive of adults as kind of "done." Except we're not - we continue to develop throughout our lives. The point wa...

KCCC's Yearly Check In (was 2012 Check In)
I just realized my old thread was outdated! Time to start a new one. Old thread at http://everydaysystems.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=7064&start=0 It would be lovely to start a new thread on an upbeat note, but alas, I've gained a bit and don't like it. Part of that was another major life change (I seem ...

No S is simple, but it is not easy. There's a difference. It was amazing how much free time I had when I quit grazing all evening. I had time to take up a new hobby (knitting). Of course, since eating was also a mechanism for procrastinating on evening chores, I had to face up to doing them earlier ...

Thtrchic, I sautee in butter - actually a mix of butter and canola, which is what we use as a spread, and what I use where I would use butter for sauteeing. For bananas that are a bit past their prime - and thus considered totally inedible by my fussy family - this is a great option. I sautee in but...

I agree with Oolala completely. I confess I had to smile at how happy you sound over finding this solution, in part because I would drink a protein shake only at gunpoint. But you can choose to, and I can choose not to, and we're both doing perfect No-S. Isn't that level of flexibility rather marvel...
