Re: Bright Line Eating
Actually, there are probably a fair number of women who need to eat that little or even less to lose weight. Tough to take, but true. I would probably have to, especially since I have lost weight, so it takes less to sustain me than if I had never lost. (When I looked at BLE, they were saying 1100 c...

Sorry, in my mind, if I have to use ANY technique, strategy, thought, etc., I call that willpower, and I have accepted that it often takes willpower to implement strategies, esp. at first and sometimes even later. For any lifestyle change, be clear what you think the advantage[s] will be or what you really want to avoid. Keep the drama out of it. Re: automated eating tracker
I sure have missed a lot, but will jump in any way. I took a webinar recently on dealing with past negative influences and it seemed to me that the teacher/therapist (he deals mostly with addicts) implied that the most important work to be done is on this side, meaning with oneself. So even if the o...

Re: Candace's Newbie Check-Ins
I'll vent a little here but have recently been perturbed that in order to be smart about what, how often, and how much we eat. we have to contend with so much. I,too, don't want to be the wet blanket, and used to eat with gusto and much admiring of the usual suspects of dietary indiscretion at socia...

I've had a couple of days of better-enough eating that I feel pretty good today. Did already have a small fail, but still like the improvement. For anyone very triggered by health talk, better pass this rest of this post up! Linda, the tuneup is called a Fast MIMICKING Diet; it's not really fasting,...

Hi, Candace. I, too, will not have read all your posts but wanted to respond to one you left on my thread. Yes, I had what I would call great success on No S for years. Great success for me was reducing my compulsive overeating and finding an eating plan that gave me pleasure and pep. Some sacrifice...

Not to discourage you, but making better habits and "getting this weight off" can be loosely related. Depending on sustained, linear weight loss (or large losses) can derail better habits. (So many people leave because No S didn't get them weight loss at a rate they wanted, with no mention of any ot...

That is so touching! I've said other places that it has derailed me that we don't get email updates about new thread posts on No S since the format change. I've been off the No S site for quite awhile. It has really affected me that we don't get email alerts of thread updates anymore. Just to add, you can sabotage No S with the attitude you talk about as well. By the way, you are not alone in the kind of reaction you are talking about. It's actually typical for dieting, that is, to respond to slips by going off the deep end. It's called officially the 'what-the-hell" syndrome and...

I had my turnaround when I saw that my compulsive overeating was as painful as it would probably be to say not to urges to overeat. I was lucky that the No S plan was so pleasurable for so long.
But I want to say that it definitely took discipline at times.

I'm going to say if you feel that that schedule is working for you and your social life, just go with it and don't get caught up in the IF world. After nearly 8 years of a lot of success, I have had some trouble recently, but I'll talk anyway. The two main motivations for my sticking with it was 1) feeling that my eating (I did a lot of binge-like compulsive overeating) was only going to get worse and I couldn't see living like that for my la...

I think it's becoming nearly universal in the culture to believe that just about any time or place or position (standing and walking, etc.) is a viable time to eat. Individuals might not choose to eat, but it's rarely questioned, at least out loud. God forbid that you should imply that you would rat...

There are no slim cultures (where food is accessible) that don't to some degree have a "program" or cultural routines that limit their food intake. They instinctively know it can't be left to chance. Heartful post about reflecting on your comment about your overweight doctor. It's quite a societal habit. I think fat is less of an issue than overeating is. Sounds paradoxical, but I honestly believe if someone studied it, they'd find those who eat less, no matter what their weight, stay healthier ...

After several years in, in my case, I would say it comes and goes. Though when I was a working teacher, the urge to snack in the afternoons, in the hours between the end of classes and dinner that used to be the start of the sweets-eating that often went on until bedtime, just about never went away....
