I don't have issues with binge eating, so perhaps I'm not the person to be answering this. (Or maybe I am!) I do not give myself permission to go insane on S days. I have normal meals at normal times, and perhaps I'll have a snack or a special dessert. I no longer keep snack food at home, which help...

I've forgotten to check in for a few days. Thursday was a red day because I had to pick my incoming intern up at the airport, got home at 1am, and was STUPIDLY HUNGRY. I had a couple of slices of bread, which counts as a snack. Friday was fine. Saturday was nice. We went to a couple of estate sales....

Just like clearing all the junkfood out of the cupboards takes temptation out of easy reach, putting the scale into deep storage reduces the temptation to obsess on the numbers. I challenge everyone to stash the scale wherever you stick Xmas ornaments (or whatever is analogous). Put it somewhere tha...

A suggestion and a question: I'll bet that no teenager wants to be caught dead on a "tricycle." Maybe she would be more motivated, if you didn't use that word. Robb just says "trike," which sounds a bit more bad-ass. Perhaps you guys could find a local BMW trail and go cycling as a family? Or you co...

The reason I was asking was because I was curious if she was a good candidate for adaptive sports. We live in the San Francisco Bay Area, where there are several groups dedicated to providing exciting recreational opportunities for people with disabilities. I wonder if your daughter could manage ada...

Partners' Participation

Robb and I were talking about the changes in my eating habits, and he told me that merely by not eating sweets when I don't eat sweets, he's been able to lose enough weight to fit into pants that he couldn't a month ago. Anyone else have a significant other participating in No S? How's it going? (Al...

Do you ever go cycling? The Bay Trail is great. No traffic, and almost all flat.

I had to tell Robb, because he was trained by his mother to show love with food. I had to tell him No More Treats. Moms everywhere: Stop It. Show love with actions, not with junky fatty food. We still laugh about the time Robb's mom wanted to do something extra-special for us when we were visiting, ...

I'm in the SF Bay Area. The rivers are low at this time of year (of course), but they're lovely. The boat rental place did something really clever. They handed out mesh onion bags, and asked you to pack out your trash, and please pick up any trash you saw. When you got back, they traded the trashbag...
