Thank you for sharing. I can't read that without sadly yearning for the ideal French waif body.. But it also makes me thankful for living in a country where there ARE other images slowly creeping into advertising and other media. How oppressive to think your worth is entirely tied to your image.

Just wanted to say that I enjoyed reading this. Your first and second attempts remind me of my start, which was only this past spring. I was beautiful and rigid and proud for a month or two, but then when I'd crack and crumble a bit I'd say "eh screw it" and suffer a few bad days in a row. Much hard...

Such stipulation on S days?

After easily losing about 15 lbs over about six months of fairly successful No-S and even getting my husband on board, I not-so-dramatically fell off the wagon around Thanksgiving. Climbing back on seems much easier than starting, and my body seems relieved to go back to a normal eating pattern inst...

Weekend abuse.. Paying for it Monday

I had my first "rough" No-S week last week and followed it up by being an absolute dummy this weekend and eating way, way too much. My stomach is in knots today; I'm guessing because of the sugar. (Fudge?! Why did I eat fudge..) I think I sort of like the fact that my guts reprimand me for bad decis...

One that was just released this week but looks good is The Fresh 20 Cookbook . Sweet! I just signed up for three months.. and then promptly remembered that we are going into summer camp mode and I don't cook for myself between May and August. Whoops. But will try to utilize over the next couple of ...

Anyone have a simple cookbook they are particularly fond of? We enjoy cooking, but it tends to be a rotation of hearty things we love. Plus a lot of soups. Hehe.

I haven't done WW, but I don't think it's magic. It won't work if you don't stick to it. No diet will. I think WW appeals (and works) for a special sect of the population. You may have to have a little zeal for micromanagement, because the tools they use are no easier (and certainly less transparen...

I hope you're doing better at singling out what works for you, thepowerofcheese! I just had my third weekly weigh-in with No S and I am down about seven and a half pounds since I began this. That's the most consistent and gradual weight-loss I've ever managed and I think it must be the right way to ...

Something similar does happen to me. I find myself filling up faster and therefore eating less at certain meals, especially lunch (my traditional favorite time for overeating) but then I'll suddenly have an urge for "something else" between twenty and forty minutes after lunch. A big glass of water ...

Woah! I'm gone for a weekend and such good responses. We have chickens and therefore fresh eggs, so, when I have time, a couple of eggs and a slice of whole wheat toast with fruit preserves (Crofters fruit spread, mm) is my FAVORITE breakfast. But that takes enough time that it doesn't always happen...

Breakfast help?

I have been struggling with eating good breakfasts on NoS. I used to tend to have a cup of coffee.. an hour later, some fruit.. maybe a cereal bar.. Kind of a "breakfast grazer." Mostly I tended to wait and have a large "brunch" and then snack through the lunch hour and on to dinner.. and then desse...

I can only offer sympathy. I'm wishing I hadn't snacked as much, but gotten in a really nice dessert at some point, as I would probably do some really weird stuff to get my hands on some chocolate right now.

Delighting in strictness

So, full disclosure— I am brand-new to NoS. Started at the first of April and losing weight so far. There are a dozen reasons why NoS kept setting off bells of agreement and "YES! YES!" in my brain when I first read the general outline. Perhaps mostly because I know my pre-marriage, thinner self s...

Thank you! So far, so good. For some reason, NoS has made me start to eat my heavy big meal and lunchtime, and then a slightly more sensible dinner. Works to help tide me over during my Very Hungry Afternoons.

Funnily enough, I am responding at ~ 3 PM CST, and yes, this is my Moment of Daily Hunger. Taking gulps from a pricier-than-average bottle of water, and trying some of those deep-breathing exercises. I also tend to be loitering around my computer at this point of the day and my mind is wandering and...

One week of NoS in TX

Just felt like I should drop in and say hello, as I have finished up my first week of NoS living! Found your site somehow through HealthMonth.com, a behavior modification game that I have been using since January. I'm female, physically active but a perpetual and mindless grazer, 5'10" and started a...
