Can you find a place in front of a mirror where you can do your SG to see if your knees are going out over your toes? I don't know much about SG, but I know for traditional weight-lifting squats, you're supposed to focus on sticking your butt out behind you, and your shins should stay pretty much v...

Well, I'd really like to keep doing SG because it has really shown results very fast! I just am not sure with the bending and all of that. I mean, it's not like after bending my knee each day that I would be in pain after that. On mondays when I've started my exercise for the week, I do notice that ...

not using a sledge

I actually use a 9 lb. body bar, because I had it on hand and didn't have the funds to justify going out and buying a sledge hammer at this time.

Hi guys, Thank you for your input :) It really is nice to know that everyone is so friendly around here!! Well, my knee never had any problems until I dislocated it just by standing around at work this summer. When that happened, initially I was not able to bend my knee at all. Over time, I've gaine...

talked to my doctor's office and now i'm confused!

Honestly, this doesn't make sense. I asked the nurse about taking Advil for my pain during the day and I asked about weight lifting. She talked to the doctor and he said that I should not be bending my knee over my toes, and that my swelling will not go away until I have surgery. So first of all, am...

can't believe i'm on week 4!

Wow, a whole month gone by...and I have to say, I am not as aggressive with it this week. That's only because I had a rough week last week what with having low energy for THAT ONE WEEK out of the month :o and so this week I actually was doing a lot of lifting and walking at work and my knee was worn...

Natasha, Apparently, my legs are shaped in such a way that makes them prone to pulling the knee cap over to the side. To help prevent this, he prescribed a a special exercise. I would place some sort of light weight around my ankle, lie flat on the floor or bed, couch, etc. I would then lift up my ...

it's ok!

I'm sorry to hear this Natasha. I'm also sorry that I can't give you any useful advice. But if you feel shovelglove is exacerbating your condition, please stop, at least until you can run it by a medical professional. Today I felt tons better when I shugged. So it really must have been just getting...

anyone know a natural way of relieving inflammation?

This is sad I know, but I can't afford to refill my prescription for relefin for my knee. I was wondering what else I can do to help decrease my swelling. Tylenol I had tried, but it didn't seem to help. Or maybe I need to take more of it? I'm 115 lbs. at 5 feet, so I usually take just 1. Oh anyway,...

rough start to week #3

I exercised, but boy was I feeling like my legs were not able to bend! Not sure if it's because of taking the weekend off, or because my injured knee was acting up. I really don't know what to do for my knee because the doctor had told me that I could live with it like the way it is, and eventually ...

Rather than post a really looooong message on here, I just sent you a private message to let you know about my knee :)

Re: Natasha's Knee

Hi Natasha, I saw your post and couldn't help but get curious...I am a fitness pro and it sounds like you might have PFTD Patella Femoral Tracking Dysfunction. Obviously it is a stab in the dark without seeing your knee in action, however if it wasn't traumatized and nothing else is ruptured (like ...

Here's how week 2 is going so far!

Wow, I'm amazed at how my body has started to slow down while exercising this week!!!! I seem to be holding up pretty well still, but I find that I am JUST at the cut off point for doing my moves by the time the buzzer goes off. Thankfully I don't ache all that much after exercising--about the only ...

I use a 9 lb. body bar, and that is working great for me! I figure that it will be a long time before I find the bar less challenging!

benefits already!

This is sooo exciting! Yesterday at work we had a bunch of shipment to carry upstairs, and I was on a roll moving boxes around, going up and down the stairs without much of a problem or really getting winded. I work in a toy store, so this time of year starts to get dicey. Looks like I'll be able to...

I like the mornings!

I find that doing my routine first thing in the morning (after I do my back yoga exercises) works best for me. I was a morning person until I became a parent--so it is really helpful to get my body awake so I can be alert. I would be dropping like a dead fly if I tried to do it later in the day, aft...

is it ok to get through 2 sets before the timer is up?

This is my first week, so I have been surprised that I can get through all the moves twice and still have about 2-3 minutes left over. I've been trying to keep moving doing ANYTHING until the 14 minutes is up though. Should I just be slowing down my moves, or is this normal in the beginning?

questions from a new shugger!

Hi all! I have started shugging this week. So far, so good. But I do have some questions that have been plaguing my mind. I am desperately trying to firm up my flabby skin after had my daughter 2 years ago. I'm reasonably thin, but I have loose skin on my abdomen and back, resulting in having clothe...
