I think it is a combo of guilt and old diet mentality rearing its head. I feel like "Oh it is a day off, so I will eat everything I can before the diet starts again". I think food is the hardest drug of all. Now, I am not saying that smoking, drugs, gambling, and anything else is not hard to kick. I had a question if you are willing to share:
You posted some examples from your ndays on a different post. My question is, could you post a sample s day. Do you pretty much stick to 3 meals a day with some small treats, or do you eat a lot more?
Thanks,

Still trying to fine tune. When I eat too little at a meal I feel hungry. That edge of hunger nags me until the next meal, like a splinter. Doesn't let me focus on life. I think one of the many reasons diets have failed for me in the past is the avoidance of so called fattening food. When I feel deprived I binge. Tomorrow I will order a pizza. And enjoy it on one plate. Believe it or not this is a break through for me. I either deny or I go ape wild.

suggestions that sometmes work for me
When I first started I thought it would be easy too. It is easy to follow in that you don't have to count or measure, but it is not easy to do. Let's face it. When you are trying to lose weight you have to cut calories, consume less, whatever you want to call it. This is an easy format for doing tha...

already walk
I am overweight, but walking is no problem because I have a hyper dog that really needs his walk. When I go to work I walk 3 miles a day. On weekends and holidays (when I have more time) I walk the 3 miles twice which is 6 miles. It is harder to do the 6 miles in the winter because it gets dark soon...

floating meal time
My meal times move around quite a bit. But I always stick to 3 per day. For example, when I am at work it is very set: Breakfast 7:00, Lunch 11:40, Dinner 5:00. But when on vacation this changes. Breakfast may be 7a.m. or 10:00 a.m. Dinner maybe 4:00 p.m. or 9:00 p.m. When on vacation there are so m...

The WW part really rings true. I did WW for a year or so and lost 50 pounds. But the program keeps you hungry 24/7 and preoccupied with points. The only reason I kept at it so long is because I saw the progress and so did people around me. Then there is the part where you eat something and you have ...

Restaurant plates
Restaurant plates seem bigger than the plates at home. And even when they are not bigger, they seem to load them to the max. I have tried eating half. But that doesn't always work. Any suggestions?

hunger at night
I am fine all day. Not really hungry in the morning. But the hunger hits around 6p.m. and stays until I go to bed. I'm thinking of moving my meals up several hours. Maybe that will help.

some observations on childhood obesity from a teacher.
I work in a low socioeconomic area. I am a fourth grade teacher. When I was growing up I never had a weight problem. But I did not eat what these children eat. I would say out of the 650 students at this public school, 50% are overweight or obese. Almost 100% of my students eat breakfast and lunch i...

some questions for no s
I like no s very much. But I have some questions. Soup being one. I like soup. I come from a family that eats soup. And I feel that soup is a healthy food, especially when homemade. I don't want to totally give it up because then I feel like I am on some crappy diet again that restricts certain type...

I agree that it is not the governments responsibility to make us healthy. It is all about personal choice. But... why are they allowing such things as hydrogenated fat into SO many foods. This has been PROVEN to cause premature heart disease. There are countries that have BANNED it. It's the equival...

What is going on?
I went to Walmart tonight to buy some school supplies. I don't know if it was the hour of day or what, but the people in there made me wonder. I would say 50% overweight and 40% very obese and very unhealthy looking. I know that Walmart tends to cater to the lower socioeconomic end of society. But i...

I understand
Hearing that your child might be a few pounds too heavy is hard. Remember that a lot of the food we buy today is filled with high fructose corn syrup, msg, hydrogenated fat, and other perservatives and artificial flavors that our bodies were never ment to ingest. I have read and heard that these sub...

Well the artificial sugar causes cancer in lab rats...so....I don't trust it. I use to drink diet soda like crazy. Then I stopped for a year. I went back and tried it and it is very gross. I think it is habit forming. Now I never drink soda. Try stopping and then starting again. I bet the taste alon...

a case for genetics?
Okay, before I say anything I am not making excuses. And I am NOT saying that diet and exercise won't help you lose weight. BUT......I was looking at family photos the other day and noticed that my Great Grandmother, Grandmother, and Mother, and now myself were all overweight. Couldn't part of it be...

where in europe
It was in Poland. In a small town in central Poland. This was in the late 90s. I know you think of Polish food as heavy. It is at celebrations. But on a daily basis, the Poles eat lots of garden grown vegetables and fish/chicken. And, except in the big cities, they cook at home. I have not visited i...

P.s.
I forgot to mention something important. Because my grandparents lived in a small town, you would always dress nicely to go out on the town everyday. You would never run to the market with sweats or no makeup. Everyone did this young/old, thin or chubby. This does something to your self esteem. You ...

When I lived in Europe I lost weight
I was born in the U.S. but I went to visit my grandparents in Europe when I was 18 and again when I was 20 and 22. Each time I lost weight. Which was weird because I didn't eat low fat and I didn't diet while I was over there. However, they eat 3 times a day no snacking. My grandmother cooked homema...

french portion sizes
I read several articles about a study that was done comparing portion sizes in france and U.S. They studied 11 different establishments from pizza, chinese, fast food, to cafes. They found that the mean (average) portion in Paris is about 277 grams while in Philadelphia the average portion was 347 g...
