Quick oats are not rolled. It's the grain slice very thin so that it cooks quickly. Rolled are just that, rolled. Steel cut are great, nice and chewy but take much longer to cook. Scottish oats are stone ground very coarse and are my favorite type of oats. The intstant oatmeal flavors like the Peach...

I love oatmeal. I prefer the stone ground Scottish oats or steel cut oats to the rolled or quick oats but it's all good. The old fashion Scottish way of eating oats is with some butter and milk with a sprinkle of salt on the top. It's good that way. I have to mail order the Scottish or steel cut and...

Best to avoid it altogether. Bad stuff. If you really need a soda now and again, those Steaz Green Tea Sodas aren't too bad. And they don't have all that artificial crap in them. Once in awhile, I'll pick one up at the local health food/supplement shop.

I cook it with a handful of blueberries or some chopped up strawberries. I add ground flaxseed and some chopped walnuts or pecans when done. Also I use the Scottish oatmeal from Bob's Red Mill or steel cut oats over the rolled oats most of the time.

salt

The problem is not salt but the type of salt. Common table salt is an industrial by-product that's been highly heated, etc., etc. People for whom salt causes high blood pressure can often use unrefined seal salt or Himalayan crystal salt with no problems.

One thing about beer is that it is highly estrogenic. If he has stubborn belly fat, it's possible (and highly likely) that the fat is estrogen sensitive. Thus consuming something like beer (even one before dinner) will make it that much harder to lose weight. It's just empty calories like soda excep...
